Perhaps a symbol on the sheat? Like Akatosh or Talos.

yeah the champion one has it's fittings in bronze..Sypron wrote:Very clever. The opened sheathes really look amazing. Perhaps a bigger difference between hero and champion? All I can see is the color change on the pommel and guard, is the blade a darker color too?
Morm I already considered putting a symbol, I did it for the champion helm. hmm
lets see..
not sure about this though. I like the scabbard being rather plain, but still detailed..

ok..
for testing purpose, here's the high res cleaver.
I don't really think it will matter in your framerate a lot, if at all.. so I ask those of you who have weak machines, to test it if possible.

me neighter I don't get a fps hit at all..
AMD X2 2ghz
2gb ram
ATI X1600 512mb
Digital LCD 22"
1.2 tb of disk space
my spec are ordinary too.. and it run just fine.
in fact the file size for the sword, is less than half the file size of an arena armor for example. nothing almost any system that can run Oblivion with many mods...can't handle I guess..
look at the detailing, the spell highlight the meshes of the scabbard and the sword making a very nice effect that you will NOT get with a texture, or normal map. Look at the rest of the character...
that scabbard is so far my favorite in all the ones I did
and the sword is cool to play with too. Try to attack Agronak with this and a fresh level one character. and watch him fell you in one stroke of his own Champion cleaver. hehe

I don't think I have shown this one with a texture...
of course this here is an XSI environment texture that give the effect, yet making gleaming chrome isn't a problem in Oblivion so it should look cool, and close to this hopefully..

Just got the sword. Outside, 3rd person, I went from 20 to 15 fps (average). In first person, I did see the little bumps relecting the light, but in third the sheath's stiches took about 1 pixel each. You could hardly see them, let alone see the detail. I think you should loose some poly's on the sheathe but keep the sword high. By the way, my resolution is 1440 x 900.

hey man there's something wrong in your thing.
loosing 5 fps because of a 375kb object with textures...that doesn't make sense to me. a bandit in armor weight 5 times this. does your framerate drop to zero if there's more than 3 person on the screen?
what kind of box do you have? I canot confirm if what you say is right because here it affect nothing at all. That mean you'll have to use the low res version when gladiator is out... I already made the low mesh...
in case you missed it, here:

So give me an hour or 4.

I tried to overload my computer alot before Equipting the sword. In an interior theres so little processing that the sword wouldn't make a difference. On screen there were about 10 people, most in conversations, plus I was in third person, and it was raining. Then I equitped the sword and got hte hit. Specs are
AMD Athlon 64 processor
3000+
1.79GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
nVIDIA 6600 GT TDH
It runs oblivion on medium/low settings.

well it will be the blade of the Grey Prince in the Gladiator mod...so even if you don't use it, you will see it.
and maybe some other combattant will have one too, most probably since there will be 8 variations, I will use them as well for the arena combatant. I was missing a gladius anyway, so that Champion cleaver is the official arena blade, and there will be a one handed version, a shorter one.
The thing I will do for this, is release the mod with normal res Champion cleaver, and make a special asset that can be downloaded to make the model look better if you have a good machine.
I worked on a nice bow for the arena today. I will make a string and post later.

You could give each sword to the combatant that you verse before attaining that rank. Just like with Agronak, he has the sword (he is the grand champion), you beat him, you get the sword. So when you join the arena, you get the first one, after 3 kills you verse a guy with the next sword, then after beating him you get the sword.
