From what I've heard you need another type of XP,
but it can be done with XP. Luckily, I really don't feel like shifting from XP to Vista yet.
Like they hacked the new direct x to work on XP.
Vista really disappointed many people, it hasn't been such a success as Microsoft hoped it to be so.=p
Though it looks quite pretty, I must confess.
WBBCT need YOU! (no, not you. You! little CPU!)

It's dissappointing in my opinion because you need a password to edit any program files (So no installing Oblivion mods unless my brother agrees) He says he doesn't want too much shite put on the computer, but the fact I can't install them until he's home from work is the worst... The only good thing is that it can run OB on ultra high with no stuttering at all, and can play crysis on fairly high withough much lag.

I have Vista installed on this rig (2.3 AMD Dual core, 2 gigs ram, NVidia 8600GT--DX 10 is sweet!), and I have to say that I haven't had a problem with it that couldn't be easily fixed. My only complaint is that Vista asks your permission for just about EVERYTHING--you get prompts before you install things, etc.
Other than that? It's been smooth sailing But other than that? No complaints from me. Are there other issues I'm not aware of?
Oh, and sorry for going off topic.

The User Account Control, UAC, you're referring to, in my opinion, is pretty helpful. It can be a little bit of a pain, and sometimes you have to completely turn it off to install certain things, but it guarantees no programs are installed without your express permission, that means no viruses.sageofcyrodiil wrote:My only complaint is that Vista asks your permission for just about EVERYTHING--you get prompts before you install things, etc.
(Should I also apologize for being off topic, or have we abandoned that pretense?)

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I agree that it's helpful. It's just kind of a pain in the ass--annoying. But, you're right: Nothing gets installed without YOUR permission, so that means if you're infected? Your fault. Go stand in the corner.

I dont want to lead this thread astray, so this will be my last comment on this subject.Mormacil wrote:XP can't use 4 GB of RAM, Vista can.
Windows allows for 4GB of memory to be addressed, but this isn’t 100 percent the same as having 4GB of physical memory.
What windows does is on start up, it calculates how much memory it needs to keep things afloat and all peachy. Whatever is left is made available for use on other things

Sup Guys !
Here's my stats :
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX 768mo video RAM (Not OC'ed)
AMD Athlon 64 bits 3500+ processor (Not OC'ed)
2 gig of RAM
174 gig hard disks RAID 0 (2 disks)
Windows XP
Dunno if my processor is enough powerful though.... It's the only thing that slows me down a little when playing oblivion with a lot of scripted mods... Cuz my card is actually a real goddess and can handle everything oblivion throws at her (hehe ) . As i said, my processor is not the most recent, but it's one of the most powerful single core processor before they made dual and quad cores... Hope it helps !

Deep down, we're all bad people. Some of us are just better at it.
