I have to get this off my chest because this crap just pisses me off. What I have to say below applies not only to the mod I'm talking about, but also to others like it.
Sad, sad indeed.
I've just been reading the comments on Falskaar and the ignorance of some people never ceases to amaze me. World building, scripting, quest making, NPC routines, new books and storyline etc, etc are things I tried in Oblivion and they gave me more headaches than I care to remember....and I only made small stuff, (tried and unreleased) not an entire DLC sized mod. Yet all this was done by one person over a long span of time.
The main complaint seems to be that there's no "custom" content, as in fancy new armour, weapons and new stuff to kill and that the world looks just like Skyrim. Let's not forget the Alexander did this to try to get a job with Bethesda, using their own resources which is what they would want to see. It seems to me that he accomplished what he set out to do and I for one hope he gets his wish.
Since I've just started a new character I haven't yet started to play it but I'm looking forward to it. In fact I'll probably go straight there soon as I decide for sure what class my character will actually end up being....I change my mind frequently even after planning beforehand...
. Falskaar doesn't have special level requirements and will play like Skyrim itself. Being in it's own world space means less chance of incompatibility with the Skyrim world...as there are with Dawnguard and some other quest mods.
All in all I'd rather have a new competently built world space with new and interesting quests in a world that is still essentially the land of the Nords, (just in another self contained area,) than more things to kill and ways to do it. It's a welcome change from the next big jiggly boobs and "schlongs" mods and the competition to see who can make the skimpiest gear....male and female.
I'm glad to see Falskaar is getting the attention it deserves though despite the uninformed opinions of people who have no idea what something of this scope entails. One can be a critic without being an expert or even an apprentice in any given field, however "real" critics also know what they are talking about.
