Maybe we can move these threads not related to Skyrim later if Alex opens up the Morrowind section but for now....
I installed the Morrowind Graphics and Sound Overhaul and it's is more amazing than I could have imagined. The game looks as good, if not better than some newer games, with DOF, god rays, better shadows, animated containers and much, much more. I'm not going into a long text about it, but if anyone wants to know more about the overhaul, just ask. I will say that the way it's all put together for easy installing is just fantastic.
I must say that the AI and some other things I "thought" I remembered about the game from back then aren't as bad as I thought. In fact they are pretty good.
There's even a program that's like BOSS, called Mlox, that sorts you mods into the right load order with the press of a key. I tried MW Mod Manager but it kept having errors and it's not needed anyway.
Mlox
My biggest issue was trying to get Wrye Mash to work which I discovered after a number of frustrating hours, is a Win7 issue, but I found a stand alone installer version that works without needing to set paths for Python.
I'm just amazed that all the mods are still around and it's fantastic that the game is still being so actively supported.
I haven't done much so far besides trying to get athletics up (so slow.. ) and practice my Destruction on crabs and a few rats. I have started the main quest in Balmora and joined the Mage's Guild, but now I've sorted out the utilities and found out how to hot key items..., things will move along.
A few screens. Rianelle is a Breton Nightblade. I was going to make a custom class but I'd already started over a couple of times because I didn't like my stats and because I forgot to save before I used "tm" and couldn't get my menus back (fixed. )
The game saves screenshots as .png (due to the overhaul) which looks a lot nicer, but they are too big to upload at 2.73MB each, so I had to convert them.

Those do look amazing, to bad i have problems with MGE XE from MGSO. But the normal MGE v3.8 does work for me, that beside the point i still like how it looks in game.
As for MLox yeah i know it, i even used it at first. But then i discovered SlartibartFast1 Relz thread for Morrowind Patched.
http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/146055 ... d-patched/
It really works well, but it requires a bit of preparation before installing it. So in order to use Mlox / Testool and others on your mods you need to install Morrowind Patched last after having cleaned your installed mods and made your load order and such.

I'm happy with Mlox at the moment...that's not causing me issues.... I just added a couple of mods and Wyre Mash threw up a heap of errors which is to do with Win7 permissions which also took awhile for me to find out.
I hate the security "features" in Win 7 but turning them off leaves one open to malware and other potential problems. Thing is it makes it so you can't do anything with your own computer without it asking first and treating you like a 5 year old. I had to turn it off to install the Overhaul so it could edit the exe and registry but I turned it back on. I'd rather be annoyed occasionally than be hacked...

Yeah the UAC adds a layer of security that can not be denied. But personally i hate it with a passion so i have it turned of, i have other security programs that do the job of protecting.Maigrets wrote:I'm happy with Mlox at the moment...that's not causing me issues.... As for Mlox, well it does work but because of Morrowind Patched it complains about a few things that is all.

Except for I think five mods so far, this is the list that the Overhaul adds. I copied it from the Morrowind ini.... However, there are a lot of fixes and patches and of course a heap of textures, also added that don't show up in the list. I'm going to be adding most of Cait's animals and probably some other stuff as I go.
I added a shipwreck home which is very good, but the trouble is is way out in the swamps and hard to get to in a hurry.... I get chased by two Netches every time I go there. I thought Netches were supposed to be non aggressive unless you aggro them, but these two don't like me at all.
I think I'll get a small abode near Balmora as an extra.

Updated load order. I've added Abot's Water Life and Cait's Farm Animals and Wild Birds. Also a small mod that adds magicka regen like Oblivion, calculated on base magicka and willpower. Another small addon is a multiple mark and recall spell since I really forgot how big this game is and how easy it it to get lost trying to find something in the wilderness.
Time for a nature walk....

Cows. All the farms and some other places have cows, goats, chickens and pigs.
And the pigs enjoy the swamp.
Polly wants a cracker! Found this little mod that adds a parrot that sits on your shoulder.
The moons over Caldera....and you know who over the mountain side.
Escort duty. My mage companion Kendra, Spot the wolf, the Naked Nord who lost his axe to a witch and a Redguard who needed help delivering a package.
This didn't go well. As soon as I took the pearl from the offering plate this charming fellow appeared and scared me half to death....literally. On the the first try I didn't even see what killed me, but I managed to get a screen shot after a few more tries, then left to come back another day.

LoL the one with the Parrot.
The one with the moons over Caldera looks great, and i almost did the naked Nord quest but decide that he can forget his Axe for the moment. As for the Redguard...yeah nice boots except for the negative effect it also has. As for the Dremora...yeah those are things i have missed...trapped treasures.

Thank you both.
Doing a lot of wandering and discovering new things, but not actually getting a lot done as far as quests which is pretty normal for me....
Anyway....trying out some new armours found a new companion and Ranielle has also had a makeover. Face is from Westly's Modelling Agency:
and the hair is from the Corean Hair In Morrowind, also by Westly.
Both excellent mods. I also discovered that you no longer have to login at Planet Elder Scrolls, or at least not on the Morrowind side. It's probably been like that for ages, but I haven't visited there for longer than I can remember.

New look. I don't think I've ever used the racemenu option before in this game, but it works fine and I didn't lose stats or anything.
You Fetcher! Ambushed on the way back from getting this outfit.
Dead Wood
It's a pirates life for me....found an excellent set of gear in several colours, except for a hat unfortunately.

This mod looks interesting. It adds a book that records everything you've done like hours played, Guild joined and all the things that you can see in Oblivion or Skyrim as you progress. It also adds some achievements. I enjoyed the mod for Skyrim called Achieve That which is mainly for a bit of fun.
Morrowind Achievements
Also thinking of trying this as I watched a few videos of Let's Play using it. However, it adds a lot of NPC's, clutter and other stuff inside the ship and offices, so I'm thinking it might make my game slow to a crawl, but it only effects the Chargen until you get out of the Excise offices so I might try it and if it's too heavy it'll be easy enough to remove and start over as it's only an esp. If you decide to try it make sure to use the 1.4 version as the newest one has a bug that stops your progress.
Immersive Chargen
This is the 1st video showing the mod and progresses in the next one or two to get an idea of why I think it'll probably be a fps killer. Then again maybe it won't. Only way to know is to try it....
I wish I could say I've been playing with the new character I've planned but I twisted my already arthritic knee a couple of days ago and I can barely walk let alone sit for long periods playing as it seizes up making it worse, so I'm browsing mods and reading MW forums for ideas, and just wanting to play.
My character is going to be a black and white Khajiit from this mod:
Khajiit Diversity by Westly
It might be a bit of a challenge being a thief type, but I'll use archery, sneak and Illusion and probably throwing weapons. Anyway, I'll probably have a couple of Characters on the go using Wrye Mash's profile manager as I enjoy being a mage as well.
EDIT:
I'm going to be using this as well so I can poison weapons which can't be done in vanilla, make my own lockpicks and probes etc, armours and weapons and a lot more. Some of it won't interest me like crafting baskets and tapestries but there are a number of useful things.

I am not so much interested in the first and last mod...BUT i know the second all to well. I have used it for quit a long time in the past, and will certainly do so again in the future. It is really well made, and it gives a glimps of your characters Destiny. And Khajiit Diversity is a great mod as well, i used several times as well.
I am sorry to hear about your knee, i hope it will soon get better for you.

So you didn't find it too "heavy" as in slowing down the game? I think I will try it because I like what I've seen and it makes it so you really feel like a criminal, or they make you feel like one even more as you go through to be freed.....Fessels wrote:I am not so much interested in the first and last mod...BUT i know the second all to well. Thanks. It is a little better today so hopefully in a couple of days it will be back to what I call "normal' as long as I'm extra, extra careful...I am sorry to hear about your knee, i hope it will soon get better for you.
I've been going through the Mod Detectives threads at the official forums and have found some interesting things. It's like mining for diamonds

The computer i used back then was already 2 years old when i bought Morrowind, and i can only remember a bit of slowdown during the "Dream sequence". So with the computer you have now you shouldn't have a problem with the mod. Albeit that i can not predict how it will go with MGE XE that you use, since that version did not exist when i used Immersive Chargen.Maigrets wrote:So you didn't find it too "heavy" as in slowing down the game? Yeah me to, although it has been mostly for music today. But it is a great site, and dear i say it...yeah i do. If we can not find something on that site, then i think we will have a hard time finding it any where else on the net.Maigrets wrote:Thanks. Should be fine then since the video I linked was using the full MGSO overhaul, although it was a previous version. Anyway, as I said it's only the beginning part so if it doesn't work for some reason I can quickly remove it and do the Chargen again. It's not like I ever go back there anyway after I'm free. The computer i used back then was already 2 years old when i bought Morrowind, and i can only remember a bit of slowdown during the "Dream sequence". A couple of screenshots I meant to upload before I scrap the character and start again anew.
I was clearing out the caves and a couple of temple shrines at the back of Seyda Neen. There were Cliff racers everywhere and I mean everywhere. Killed them all and on exiting the caves etc each time they had respawned, but they enlisted extras so there were around a dozen or so at one point. I don't actually mind them so I'm not going to use a mod that gets rid of them. They are good target practice.
Surrounded by screeching, flapping vermin. There were more coming off screen and dead bodies all over.
The mod I used here adds frogs that can be used as lanterns, but I didn't think they would be that large.... I actually installed the wrong mod (same author)as this one had a vendor where the one I meant to install had the frogs sitting on lily pads but could also be collected and used as lanterns....as long as you don't let them get wet...otherwise they die.

Yeah them cliffracers are annoying, good thing they are not really dangerous any more once you have a few levels.
LoL about the frog lanterns, and what an odd thing to do...frogs that die when they get wet.
