Just having another whinge about the game....I advise to scroll by if you don't want to read it...

I'm a bit ticked off...again. :???: Seems something has gone wrong somewhere and it looks like I'll have to start over. I don't know what the problem is but this character crashes on saving, auto-reloading from a death or just randomly standing still and has done for sometime, but I've been persevering trying to get somewhere. My saves are a lot bigger at my current level than with my mage character yet I'm using basically the same mods with a few additions that are mostly tweaks. Added some textures (optimized) and removed others, probably more.

I have a feeling it's my own fault because I added the quest mods I want to play at the start of the game and their scripts, alongside the vanilla and other mod scripts are probably choking my CPU. Should have known better, but didn't think about it at the time. I'm pretty sure it's scripts because my followers (same ones I always use) are starting to act strangely and not follow orders and other odd things are going on. I'm also getting a lot of "Skyrim has stopped responding" incidents which can happen in the middle of a menu. I don't know the truth of this, but I've read at several places that the 1.9 patch introduced this along with the never ending loading error when trying to return from Solstheim. If it is the case the 1.9 patch is a dud! I still have the files from 1.8 that were replaced so I could go back a patch as long as I stay off Steam which can be awkward with other games updating etc.

I got my mage to level 60+ with practically no problems to speak of, yet this character is struggling to get to level 30 and I've barely done anything substantial let alone get to Solstheim. Anyway, I'm going to strip out most scripted mods tomorrow and recreate this current character. I so much wish for the Oblivion system where it was so much easier to troubleshoot.

In the meantime....

Thanks. :)

Yes, I already had that ini tweak for SKSE as I needed to create an ini for another reason, but it didn't work in this case. I think my saves were just too far gone and thinking back I did have an odd crash that might have contributed to the weirdness and broke something permanently. Anyway, I've recreated my character, and so far up to level 11, had no CTD's or other issues.

Thankyou. :)

After spending a couple of hours real time (I kid you not) trying out different warpaint mods, and wishing I had a better PC :-( I finally decided to keep the ones I had except I somehow managed to delete the one I was using (not vanilla)and can't find it again. I did find a similar lo-res one though so that was OK. Most of the warpaint mods are so hi-res my character menu just lags so much I can barely move my cursor particularly in the Race Menu mod which has so many and better options. If I move to hair or another menu option the lag goes away so I know it's the resolution of the warpaints.

So finally moving on from the cosmetics...lol,

I love the old bones image :D The lighting is superb imho.

I have never considered getting Cicero arrested - I just get the wheel fixed and they wipe out the organisation later LOL. I wonder why I have never tried that option o_O hmmmmm......

Thanks guys. :)

The goose comes from Birds of Skyrim and if used with SkyBirds - Airborne Perching Birds they, and all other birds have the correct sounds to go with them. So immersive seeing and hearing crows, roosters, woodpeckers, pigeons and a ton of other birds in my travels.

SkyBirds - Airborne Perching Birds. This has a lot of scripts for flying and perching etc, but I've had no problem with it. They are both must haves for my game.

Thanks Maigrets, I've already have those two...and the gooses must come from the latest version of Birds of Skyrim which reminds me to update those two mods next playthrough.

Thanks...

Just a few while I'm awaiting the Legendary Edition of Skyrim next week so I can start over with Dawnguard and updating a heap of mods I will now be able to use, especially SkyRe....Oh how I miss thee!

New model for the werewolf. I don't know If I'll keep it yet and it doesn't look as good in my game since I had to reduce the textures by half (4k originally) and the author is using an ENB and obviously ultra hi textures. I only tried it for a few minutes but it doesn't seem to work with Tales of Lycanthropy and the extra powers when howling etc. Anyway, next week I'll be swapping to Moonlight Tales which I'm more interested in.

Those Apex Werewolf textures do not look good to me, and they would not work with Moonlight Tales any way i guess. As for that Necromancer torture/murder room...that one quit creeps me out everytime i get to that point. Right now i just wish WTFus would bring out the updates for his Extra Werewolf Perk mod that i am waiting for...oh well till then i will be playing Diablo 3. :woot:

I tend to agree about the werewolf. It actually looks cartoonish in game and I've never liked purple much either...lol. I already swapped back to the textures I was using, except not black with red eyes this time. I decided brown with yellow eyes looks better.

Hopefully then WTFus will have an update in the next week or so...lol. Do you have a link to that mod? It will take me some time to get back to werewolf status after re-installing everything though. I have to do it soon anyway even though I'm getting the Legendary Edition because I have a few issues that I think are left over from Tropical Skyrim. A number of Nordic ruins I go into since removing it have invisible walls and other collision problems that completely block corridors and access to some of the puzzles and chests. There's not much I can do since they are invisible except tcl through them. All the files are gone from my data folder and it only started after that, so I don't know what else it would be.

A new start is as good as a holiday as it's about 6 months since I did a fresh install. The updates for Tropical Skyrim look like being a long time away and I haven't even thought about it for ages. I'm going to try Summer Skyrim or something else less taxing.

According to the posts about the werewolf textures apparently they need to be put over the original Bethesda textures to work properly :?

Apparently it's more complicated than it seems and would only be useful for people who don't use werewolf enhancing mods. The Apex Werewolf has it's own esp and different file structure to vanilla and is something I have no idea how to change. Doesn't really matter to me in the long run as I'm more than happy with the choices Moonlight Tales has to offer..when I get to play it that is. When I played Oblivion I used to mess about with Nifskope a bit, but even then most of it was over my head. That, and I couldn't really be bothered learning how to do more advanced things than checking file paths. :)

This from the Moonlight Tales comments.
spoiler:
So I dont want the apex skin to be the default, and being slightly clever I went ahead and plugged the apex mesh and textures into the existing MT folders, redirecting the mesh to the new texture folder etc.

What I am wondering is if I need to do anything to the esp to allow for a new skin variation so the apex form shows up ingame like the rest, or if it will be handled automatically (which I doubt)

I dont mind doing the work myself, but I dont want to get into the structure of MT without knowing at least a little where to start ^_^
You can't do this. I've looked at the Apex Werewolf textures. They are custom textures, you CANNOT use the normal textures and retextures for the Bethesda model. This includes The Howling and La Femme Lycana models as well since they also use the normal textures and retextures.

You have to basically create an all new set of retextures for the Apex Werewolf for this to work. even then it will screw up the textures for the other models unless you setup a whole new set of Body skin textures wihtin the creation kit. Also the mesh isn't setup the same as the original bethesda mesh so it will cause even more problems with Moonlight Tales.

Adding in the scripting options to even give options for the new set of textures I don't even know how to do and that would be even harder to work with since Spwned has stated he's going to take a break once the 2.05 compatibility version is out to play skyrim so it would be awhile before we see a major fix brought in for the Apex werewolves if Spwned does get permission from Zerofrost to add it.

My suggestion is install it normally and just the base version in the MCM menu so your character is the only one that uses the Apex werewolf body and skin. Then just use Gimp or Photoshop and play around with the colors of the texture till it looks the way you want it to look.

I know this sucks but it's the only thing you can do since Zerofrost had no intentions of making his mod work with Moonlight Tales when he made it. Till he makes a compatibility version, Spwned makes a compatibility version (or includes it in his mod) or Zerofrost gives somebody permission to make a compatibility version you'll have to live with this basic work around till then.

Playing through Dragonborn again and finding it a lot easier as a melee character, at least with high archery skills. I started back in Solstheim at the same level as my mage which was 39, almost 40 and I still have to be careful with Reavers and some enemies, especially Werebears which are really tough, but overall they are easier to contend with but it's quite inconsistent. Enemies that should be hard, especially in the main quest are pushovers. This is actually how it plays vanilla Dragonborn since the overhaul I'm currently using requires Dawnguard. I think it also makes a big difference knowing what to expect.

Something I discovered which was a nice surprise is I'm recognized as a werewolf even in human form by the Solstheim werewolves and they welcome me and trade with me. Plus they have items to purchase that boost the werewolf experience, but are very expensive. Luckily, I have the coin...lol. Last time I was human and was attacked outright. Werebears are a different thing though. They hate everyone equally.

Miraak also acknowledges that I killed Alduin this time round, although he's not very impressed.

Eventhough they are not close up, it still shows right away that the Superior Vanilla hair textures work really good. "Red Mountain at dusk" looks really great, the aurora makes the ash plume really stand out. :-)

And the "Dramatic Dragon Death" screenshot...ah there is a famliar and welcome sight.
