First of all, let not made this into a flame war throwing in dozens of reason why we like or dislike body mods.
It's a waste of time, we all have our personal taste. We can't judge on taste really. I have done "Art and Design" most of the time it was like dropping paint and ink on some paper and press random objects in them. My art teacher was almost drooling, and I still don't get why. It must be his taste, though it isn't mine.
I am not saying that the body mod I run has big front pieces and a well formed behind. Though it might be reasonable, it's done by a doctor as far as I know and it is tried to look athletic, well proportioned and realistic.
Let me state this clear, I really do dislike big front pieces. Ah in a tavern, it's like, well it can happen... But in a fight, you don't usually see them running around. I just want it to look a bit realistic, without seems. I have seen many body mods which where good but just. They where out of proportion. I did not like that.
And no, you are wrong at that point about not leaving them naked in the cold. My character is a thief, she will even rob the underwear to sell in Braveel.. My character is an assassin, a cruel ages old vampire who likes nothing more then claim their stuff. "You may run away, but your armor, body parts and weapons are mine" sort of thing.
It's my sort of game-play, and I play it that way. Please let me. =) I will certainly not force you to do it.
And about the "I walk around with only piercings and a belt" thing. Should be allowed, though with lower or no armor rating. Nudism comes with a price, and it's quite high when you face an ogre...
But lets just end this discussion. I mean, it's personal tastes really. This forum is about what we think about those weapons and armors, and not what bodies are under it I think.. Why go nude when you can wear such armor?

I can't wait to play with those swords, my character is a Breton, so I would like to use something designed for them.

Actually I'm using one of Roberts male body replacers, because of a specific set of Armour I wanted, and needed it to prevent clipping. One of you mentioned the hairlessness of the bodies, though robeerts actually adds some chest and arm hair

Yup, I actually did try out Robert's male body replacer (the medium built one) and it looked great. He's clearly done a fantastic job on it and it's the most realistic and anatomically correct one of all the different female and male body mods out there. But it did misalign a bit with a few vanilla pieces of armour and clothing though so I reverted back to Bethesda's fully waxed "body builder" body for the time being.amievil85 wrote:Actually I'm using one of Roberts male body replacers, because of a specific set of Armour I wanted, and needed it to prevent clipping. And as long as the "make-it-compatible-with-Exnem's / Fantasy Figures' / Robert's / Eshme's-bodies-plz!!!" mob doesn't start bugging Waalx about adapting to body mods when he clearly doesn't want to I'm fine with how things are now. Others (who are more inclined towards other body shapes than Bethesda's original one) can always adapt Waalx's meshes to whatever body mods are popular later on I figure.

I wasn't asking him to make one, I asked if he was making one.
I apologize for starting this whole thing, I never meant to make it go this far.
Someone will eventually adapt these armors to match exnem, and Robert's body mods. But its not Alex's job to do that.
SO, how about we drop the whole damn thing, and let him get back to work on the Arena armors?

Agreed. These kinds of discussions on body mods are pointless anyway since it all comes down to taste in the end.Tlo1048 wrote:I wasn't asking him to make one, I asked if he was making one.

I just have to say that, as a former MW modder, I can understand modders like Waalx feeling a bit fed up with sometimes getting requests to make stuff they don't want to or feel like making, in particular over on the official boards where *SOME* of the kids can be really obnoxious and demanding at times.
But I really haven't seen anyone here on these boards being disrespectful or demanding things of anyone else, which is very cool.

Now, like I said, I fully agree with you so let's just focus on what's coming next. And I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing the breton pack out soon. I just hope I'll have some time to playtest it in between work.

Cheers, UQF

what I said is it's not realistic, and it's not a question of taste. Nobody have the same tastes and I know that.
But a world where everyone look like supermodel, its more fake than a world where everybody look normal.
you cant get me on the argument that they are realistic, because the way they are implemented, they are not.
I compare this to hollywood and all the publicity in magazines and everywhere were we only see beauty as if it was the most common thing in the world. Beauty, I like, but beauty is rare, and should stay rare. Otherwise it's not beautiful anymore, it's boring and usual.. that's not a question of taste, that's the way it is. having only beautiful models is quite unrealistic.
that's all.
When I say would you leave your foes naked, I'M speaking not in a video game but in real life. If you where in a world like this, no one would do this. but in a video game, or on internet, most people do stuff they would NEVER do if they where out in the clear, they are not really acting civilized.
Many are real techno-barbarians. just look at the plethora of sexual predators on the internet that have no class, are everything but who they really are, and lies about everything, and try to guess how many would act the way they do with girls in a real life situation. Very few. but on the web they are legion. really easy to say whatever you want behind a screen. But this kind of behavior is hurting everyones, guys like me that are honest and that don't play someone else role on the web, and in the end themselves too, because when they will get tired of being internet assholes, they will suffer what they have helped to build, a real mess of fakers and liars.
and I know no one of ye asked me to make body mod adjustments.. I just feel free to say my opinion, as I always do
(and here this forum is my own place, so I won't refrain from saying my mind.) Discussing something is never bad...
but anyway, even if a discussion can change some people view on things, that one doesn't matter a great deal, if we are just talking of body mods for a video game.
and Morm..yeah well I'm not really surprised that girls on eye-candy don't view things with the same eyes as I do. They are on the best forum for a person that like body mods..so no big surprise here my friend..I'm not going to cry tonight
I just want to say in closure about this, that I'm not attacking anyone on here or anywhere that like and use body mods.. if you do , fine! Yet I felt I had to say what I think....
about me getting obnoxious requests..well you just have no idea..
My last loss of control was last week when one kid wrote me my mods where so great and he said he follow my progress since day 1. cool!
but then he asked if I could tell him when the mod is going to be completed, so he don't have to watch the progress anymore...Hey all you have to do is open a freaking forum page to see the progress of all the work I do for free. yet he don't even want to do that. he just want the result, no care about the process... no care about me or my work. just: give me my toys.
that
when you read that in the morning. it made me really angry. and disgusted once again.
I received many mail that started like oh that is so great, and blablabla, and then you read on and
, what the hell! it was just to prepare another selfish request, that no one that is intelligent for 2 cents would ever ask anyone. yet they ask me, a complete stranger that owe them a big nothing. and then they say I'm harsh and aggressive in my replies to their kind requests... yeah well I am! not going to let them freak me out...enough that they disgust me.
now..Breton..? soon soon.
the beta should be ready this week. the release hopefully next week-end, or before that if all goes well. and if I have a couple of testers to help!

Don't worry, there are plenty of lurkers out here like myself who are patiently awaiting each release and would neve ask such stupid questions.Waalx wrote:I received many mail that started like oh that is so great, and blablabla, and then you read on and, what the hell! it was just to prepare another selfish request, that no one that is intelligent for 2 cents would ever ask anyone. yet they ask me, a complete stranger that owe them a big nothing. and then they say I'm harsh and aggressive in my replies to their kind requests... yeah well I am! not going to let them freak me out...enough that they disgust me.
And since this is my first post here, let me say how much I appreciate your excellent additions to the game. I only discovered them recently, but now I will never play without the additional variety these packs add.

Working on Breton now as we speak, going along quite well, my shop interior is nearly done.
Breton is going to be the heaviest module so far, with nearly 60mb of textures files only.
since I decided to make almost each weapons into steel AND bronze, it's becoming quite heavy..
and there's 25 blades, 9 maces....I think I'm doing a bit too much for that one. (again)

Heres a quick idea: Instead of adding the items to the merchants inventory for selling, make it all done by dialouge.
Pros:
-Makes it easier to find the weapon you want without a huge cluttered list. (Choose a weapon, then choose a material)
-You can display the raw stats of a weapon that arn't dependant on skill (someone with lvl 5 blade will see two different weapons as having the same damage)
-Mecrantile skill doesn't effect price: price is fixxed.
Cons:
-Takes longer
-No sound, unless you plan on doing it that way.

I see a definite trend here with each module getting bigger and bigger than the previous one. At this rate the Dunmer mod will probably be a 120MB behemoth! Which is a great prospect, off course.

Keep up the excellent work.
I love the idea of making shopkeepers with more personality by the way. The fat breton Jeremy looks like he's got lots of character with that jovial appearance of his. Hmmm... I can almost imagine a very skinny, gaunt and weatherworn Dunmer from Vvardenfell for the Dunmer module, showcasing his exclusive imported Morrowind merchandise...

Cheers, UQF
