nice to see others are still around. Perhaps we should try to post ever so often to let others know we're still alive.

~snip~
Yes Indeed I'm the one that is handholding the great Francesco's Leveled Creatures and Items Mod. Well mostly providing tech help and answering questions as I poke about inside how it is made. Truely Fran's as a great mod, quite stable if you use all of it. However... it's not made quite the same way as newer esm/esp mods so there have been issues with stuff showing when not installed... Eventually when I feel I've gotten a grasp on how it is currently put together I'll attempt merging and resplitting it so that it works as it should.

On to Wac... I've see the hammerhead sharks. They are darkish. sort of charcoal in color and I was under the impression that the species (in real life) was lighter blueish gray. The darker shade on them surprised me. They are a bottom feeder though so the slaughterfish AI that they seem to use really looked great with them.

I was expecting them to be tough to kill and it only took 2 hits for my 8th level character to do it though (Oh I know, I know... not balanced yet, gees... ) :D

I should say though that the first one I saw sent me scurring out of the water.
the grey and brown zebra striped horses in the Black Marsh area: they supposed to be tame? (they look great, by the way)

And the Chimps REGENERATE like trolls. only they attack in mass and don't really run away. they retreat, heal back to full and come at you again. Are they supposed to regenerate? I came across a legion trooper that had gotten off his horse and was swarmed by the chimps. He had no chance at all against them. this was just across from the Leyawiin coastguard shack, and I think if I go back those chimps will still be there waiting to attack me. (I ran into town and then out the other gate to get away from them.)

weird. It's snowing and the sun is out...

Once again, this site is so quiet you can hear crickets chirping. What happened?

Is something wrong with Waalx?

Waalx is making money right now and has little time to work on WAC, so we'll just wait until he gets back. In the meantime I play FO3 and wait for the CS to come out! :-D-)

I was under the impression that there wasn't going to be a CS released to the public.

I'm hoping they do release the CS, we all know how much more fun a game can be when it's modded :D
though it is a great game already.
It's a pally thing, you wouldn't understand.

I'm sure Waalx will be back when he's finished whatever commercial project he's working on. For now the man needs to earn some money, eat and sleep just like the rest of us. :)

O/T

There *WILL* be a construction set for Fallout 3. It was confirmed by Bethesda on Nov 25th. It will be due out sometime next month and will (quite cleverly) be called the G.E.C.K. ;)

Got my new system (Core2Duo E8400 w/Radeon HD 4870 + 4GB RAM) set up and running fine by the way and am now enjoying Oblivion (and WAC v0.04 of course) with a very enjoyable 50-60 fps outdoors with all details maxed. Whoa!

Cheers, UQF

That's great news, the G.E.C.K. should be a lot of fun to play with, and congratulations on the new system.

Weapons, and different textures for bodies I've seen, yes, but hair is a new one to me. Do you know about a site I don't? I've been paying attention to the Nexus, but I've yet to find any other fallout 3 mod sites worth visiting.

I am sorry to keep bringing new idea but SNAKES are missing and SNAKES would be a great addition to WAC...

my two cents...

I agree. If somebody could make snakes, then "maybe" someone could make whips. I've often thought that whips would be a good blunt weapon to have for the game. Anyone else agree? IN Runescape(a game I'm glad I don't play anymore) the most popular weapon seemed to always be Whips, even when other new weapons would come out. The Abyssal Whip just simply ruled and probably continues to rule.

I try out a lot of mods. A lot of players tend to ignore the small tweaks and miscellanious or gameplay effects mods. I, on the other hand, have become quite knowledgeable on them. Players often don't want these as they want the bigger mods for their 255 mod limit. However, with TESIVGecko you can often merge many of these together, not to mention that a lot of them are bashed patch mergeable.

The above link leads to the first mod I've found of all of them that really enhances WAC. No Obsolete enemies. The link also has no obsolete loot but that can be tedious and depressing to keep getting junk. But with no obsolete enemies, I'm seeing a lot more WAC creatures as I advance and it's really enhancing the experience. Be forewarned about No Obsolete Loot however. If you use that mod, be darn sure to use some container mods. I've made a mod that combines 5 of these bag/containers, the keychain, and The portable Library. The Library requires OBSE and is one of those "best kept secrets" out there. As I go through the game, I get a metric ton of parchment and scrolls and a lot of them are quest related. The portable library auto stores them all, including books.(a lot of players collect the books).

I use dozens of small tweaks myself, so yeah I keep hitting the limit pretty hard :P

The Gecko can fix a lot of that, Mormacil. It's not as "dangerous" as most people think it is. It doesn't delete the mods you merge, just copies them into one "merged plugin". I then rename that plugin to one of the mods inside it so that it can be read by BOSS or FCOM helper. Only things to pay attention to when doing this is:

1) Make sure you like the mod. Some mods have extra crud you didn't bargain for. Example: Multiple Enchantments, not the COBL version. In it, once you get to the Master FOrge you encounter a skeleton called the Master SMith and will do battle, with it dropping a lot of gold presumably to help you pay the enormous costs of the multiple enchantments. This is an ok addition as it's a tough battle. From then on, that skeleton will bug the hell out of you whenever you come back from a loading screen. It will also go after weaker opponents when it does this and sometimes kill important NPC's before you can stop it. REsurrecting gets to be a chore. It's easy to beat if you can reach him before he runs off on a killing spree but he drops practically nothing.

2) Sometimes it puts the bmusicenabled to = 0 thus disabling your background music. This can be fixed by going to the INI and shifting the value back to 1. It's easy to do. Gecko does this when it merges mods using unique sounds in order for it to incorporate them better.

3) Don't mess with any mod associated with FCOM. It just makes sense as they went to a lot of trouble to get them to work together.

Things that are easy to merge and I recommend doing them:
1) Armor/weapons mods- Don't know if you noticed, but these mods are mostly textures and meshes. the esp's are usually less than 10KB. I'm not talking about the mods that add a lot of weapons like Waalx, adonnays and the like, but the individual ones. There are thousands of these and unless they change the same thing, are easily mergeable. I don't like cluttering up my game with these but I once had about 150 weapon/armor mods in ONE esp. And this esp was still less than 500KB in size. Make sure the mod works before doing this as a lot miss textures and meshes due to the creator's negligence.

2) Tweaks mods that are not bashed patch mergeable. Easy as pie. again make sure the mod does what you want.

3) Bashed patch mergeable. This just makes them easier to manage. You can combine them all(unless some conflict) and the resulting merger will still be bashed patch mergeable.

4) Small dungeons- There are a lot of these single dungeon types. However, make sure they don't occupy the same world space before doing this. Gecko won't let you merge them if they do anyway but some dungeons lap over with the bigger dungeon mods.

5) small quests- It's pretty easy to do and Gecko won't let you merge conflicting ones.

Always keep the backups of any of the mods you combine. Using Wrye Bash they mostly end up in the "hidden" folder. It's also worth it to make a readme for each merger so you know what's in each. You don't have to, but it makes it easier.

Another advantage to these mergings is Gecko Cleans the merged plugin as well as the ones it merges. Dirty mods, with extra junk in them, are not that big of a problem.

Feel free to ask me questions. I had a thread on this in the Bethesda Forums on how to do it but I'll be damned if I can find it.

One more thing. I've tested a lot of mods and I've only found ONE that's intentionally malicious in it's bugs it puts into the game. This is The Pilgrim's Path. It adds some very annoying side effect bugs that are obviously intentional. Don't use this mod and don't merge it.

I merge EPSs still hit the limit, some things just can't merged because of scripts etc.

you must be running a ton then. I know it can be hard to limit the number of them due to interest in the game. I've been letting a lot of other games gather dust since I first started playing Oblivion, lol. And I'm disabled, getting a check, so I've more time than most people to play. I recently got a divorce so I don't even have THAT restriction.

The type of mods I've learned to live "mostly" without are the dungeon mods. I've yet to encounter any trouble with them though it's just that there are so many dungeons in the game it seems kind of redundant. I Do have the bigger ones and I do try new ones all the time but once I've been through it, I remove it from the mod list except for those bigger ones.

I also avoid the texture mods but am tempted to go WTF from time to time and try them out.

It can be tough anyways. There's over 18k mods out there with more being created everyday.
