I have no idea, sorry. I've never used the mod myself. Someone else will need to give you advice on that one. :)

On another note..I seem to have solved my game issues. I played for several hours straight tonight with no crashes or hitches and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's the first time I've really played the game in a couple of weeks. WAC creatures in Elsweyr using Washington's patch is awesome. I even find WAC weapons and armours on some bandits there.

No issue's with Mobs and Wac so far, but think I'm going to drop it (Mobs not Wac lol)

Happy to be using All Natural now along with Immersive Interior's, add's a new sense of realism and (can't believe I'm about to say this but) 'immersion' :P to the game. Congrats on the solving of the game issue's, was it a nightmare to sort or a simple tweak and ta-da :)

With out wanting to ginx myself too much, I too have had a stroke of stability luck it would seem. Thank to a fresh install with Qarls Redimized and some less intensive texture replacers and some ini tweaking it's running smooth again. On a side note, I stuck in the usual mods i'd use even with the redimized version and it would still ctd every 2-4 mins on me, the culprit turned out to be Better Cities (great Mod not bashing it in any way) but in my case it was too resource straining. Was able to play for hour plus in a single sitting with out a ctd today!

Will be re-adding Deserts of Elsweyr tonight as well as Tales from Elsweyr (and the relevant Wac patch). I looked at Elsweyr before but never added it, truth be told it was only when I installed Wac and saw there was a patch to add the creatures into Elsweyrs leveled lists that i stuck it in :) so intense is the power of ac it even get's other mods added to benefit it :D

And on that note, are there any mods you or anyone would recommend that could be used with Wac to add to it, or maybe mods that go hand in hand to enhance the overall experience, not that it needs any enhancing :)

Code: Select all

I was looking for a mod that added more animals to the game as well as creatures, but everything id found seemed to just specialize in added big beasties or the attack on sight monsters. I was ecstatic when i found Wac as it actually had normal animals I could find in the real world
Another "must-have"-creature mod for me is Mr. Siika's "Farm animals", it is a perfect complement to WAC:

If you are interested in new villages, take a look at Arthmoor' s villages, my favorite is Faregyl Village. Use it with the Faregyl-Anequina-Patch ( patches the road from Faregyl to Iliana's Elsweyr). And in Faregyl also starts one of the roads of "New roads and bridges", another "must-have"-mod for me. (Side note: the village is full of farm animals, created by Mr. Siilka of course. :)

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20218

Other villages which I can recommend (like Arthmoor both modders integrate small quests)
"Mudwater" from Phitt: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35434
"Shezrie's Villages" : http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35908

And of course take a look at the Unique Landscapes-series. Someone has made a patch for UL Lost Coast and WAC, but I can't find the modder nor the link to the patch at the moment. A few ULs have smaller incompatibilities with WAC, but for me it's tolerable.

Absolutely. :) And New Roads and Bridges along with Elsweyr are must haves for me. I use the Elven Map which adds all of Elsweyr and the New Roads and Bridges by ADParker.
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31273

That's only one of his map compilations though. There are lots of others for other mods as well.

Anequina Manor is a good house mod with a nice quest. Must not be arachnophobic though.

HGEC and Robert's Male conversion for Elsweyr if using those replacers.

I tried Valenwood Improved, but it wasn't what I thought it would be so I removed it, and it looks like it will never be updated.

I'm trying to ignore the reference to the UL mods, as much as I would love to use them. lol.

Actually, this thread is getting very off topic as far as direct comments and issues regarding WAC itself goes and can make it hard for people to find specific info. I'm one of the culprits so I'm not having a go at anyone. :)
When the next WAC update is released we should have a Sticky thread for issues with other mods if people need it, as well as mods that compliment WAC so as not to get off track, and to keep the actual WAC topic specific to it. There's probably not much point doing it now though.

:) I may be a tad wee bit guilt of steering things of topic...on a few occasions....more than a few...maybe :D sorry's! lol :)

I am noticing a few 'wtf' missing mesh errors when trying to drop some of the Wac items in game, I will make a list of the one's I notice but that's probably old news now. Still any I find i will mention :)

There's supposed to be a small box/chest at the sewer entrance at start game where i can test the summon-able creatures right? I think i read that somewhere. There is the usual testing chest of goodies and a box below the bridge/peer walkway but no such ring inside :(

Amazingly all of the above mentioned mods bar new roads and bridges I have used :) an decided to re-add so thanks again for the info :) much appreciated

Ok have another Wac question please. I'm using Boss to sort my load order for me and Wrye Bash to make my Bashed Patch, when i run Boss it tells me what to tick for the relevant mods when creating the bashed patch (that's pretty standard) ie

WAC - TCOS Shops.esp [Version 03]
Bash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH:Graphics, Invent}}

and I only ever select what Boss suggests (kicking for safe every time, bar Darnified Books) but when I go to 'Import Cells' it also has the WAC - TCOS Shops.esp there as being selectable, but Boss doesn't make mention of it? This is probably a dumb question and if it is then I'm sorry in advance but should I leave it, or since its there tick it and add it into the bashed patch? That happens for a few other Wac esp's as well and I never know what to do. I always thought that maybe Boss didn't know something :)

Well, I tick them all whether that's right or wrong and haven't had any problems. The only other choices besides WAC esps when rebuilding my Bashed Patch are the Unofficial Patches where cells and inventory etc are concerned.

Ok question time please.

Have just read through (near enough) all 136 pages of comments lol (eyes hurting) looking mainly for posts by Waalx (Ayleid Ghost) to see if there were any updates or anything i needed.

Still getting ctd's so trying to see if that may be a reason why. At current I am only using the main file downloaded on page 1 and the gnoll fix? Is there anything else I should be using?

I downloaded all the updates Waalx posted and named them in order as they were released (wac patch 1, wac patch 2 ect) but I dont think half of them are relevant for the version thats at current release (ie the independent horses.bsa and rs-gladiators. bsa)

Other than that i did the vampire eye fix in the tesedit for my bashed patch. Any help would be appreciated as always :)

*EDIT - Ok do not know how i managed to miss this link! viewtopic.php?f=12&t=316 (Might have been the fact that almost ten pages with no sign of life from Waalx scarred me, I thought the mod was no more!!) but anywho, Im guesing that to be the version I should be using and not the one on page 1?

*EDIT 2 - Ok once again stupidity got the better of me.....the two versions are identical :) should have checked that first maybe, and I think Im right in saying all i need is that version, the gnolls fix and the scamp bulls head glowing texture fix?

That's all you need. :)

Now I have a wee problem if anyone can shed any light on it. My game is running smoother than it has for a long time, but occasionally and randomly I get what I think is a normal map issue where my weapon or other items will turn black. Tonight I changed from one WAC full body armour set to another and my character's body was dark blue. But not the face, lol, or I would have noticed it sooner. NOTE...I had been playing for over an hour and had changed armour several times and all was fine....no dark blue body.

Shortly after that starts happening, I CTD and usually it's a big one, taking ages and I mean ages, to exit as if there's a memory leak. Not the usual CTD on exit.

At first I thought it was something to do with the fog in All Natural because it started yesterday during heavy fog after rain, but tonight I was in a dungeon fort and the same thing happened....although there was fog inside as well, or dungeon mist or whatever you'd call it. I use the Nvidia fog fix in my Bashed Patch as a precaution, mainly because I've never had this issue in all the time I've had the game, which is since release.

Yesterday I reinstalled OOO after removing it only a couple of weeks ago. I know it's not that causing the problem as I've used it since it was "born"... :)

Other things I've tried...
- Updated my graphic drivers tonight which made a huge difference to frame rate (or my imagination.) Last time I updated drivers was last October. I don't normally do it unless something is broken.
- I turned off HDR tonight and am gradually getting used to Bloom again.
- Double checked load order with BOSS etc and rebuilt my Bashed Patch.
- Made sure all assets are present and correct.
- Other things I can't remember at the moment.

I have no missing textures or meshes, but something seems to be going screwy with normals. As I said it's random and can happen anywhere, but usually when there's fog or after it clears. In actual fact I think the fog is co-incidental as I remember one time when there was none and hadn't been for a game day at least.

EDIT: I just wondered...I have a sword I use in Elsweyr called the Fang of Anequina. It's a beautiful and detailed sword, but I've just realized every time the above issue has happened I've had this sword either equipped or in my inventory and it is the one that turns black. Perhaps tomorrow I'll leave it somewhere or put it in a chest and test without it anywhere near me and see what happens.

Anyone heard of this kind of normal map problem?

EDIT2: Anyone planning on doing anything sneaky and you have Stern along...don't do it. :-? He'll have the guards on you in an instant and he whines if I "accidentally" steal something, not to mention trying to kill me for hitting him during a fight. I'm leaving him behind somewhere unpleasant, as punishment as soon as I get to civilization. He got in my way in a fight between an innocent traveler and a bandit and I ended up with a murder rap...for which he blamed me and also reported me. I could have reloaded, but I haven't had a visit from Lucian for awhile.

I like having him along, but he needs to loosen up a bit or I'll do it for him

Thank you Maigrets :) As always, your help is most appreciated

The black body issue does sound weird? I've never had that problem in Oblivion, but I did in Fallout 3! For me it was caused by added texture re-placer on top of texture re-placers (usually they just sorted themselves out) but after adding a huge over-all re-placer on top of NMC's, it screwed with everything. At first I thought it was memory leak (the dreaded black abyss spreading) but when I re add-ed NMC's it sorted itself out.

I remember looking at that mod for Elsweyr (The Fang of Anequina) and reading on the page that it was a very high poly count model and may cause lag issues ect on some systems. Maybe like you suggested that model is jut putting too much extra strain on your system when it's dealing with a lot, resulting in a form of memory leak? Just a guess really.

 you make it sound like he blindfolded you and told you to swing left swing left the bad guy is over there!! And when you finally take of side blindfold after hearing the embrace of steel on bone and softened flesh, you discover a dead traveler, a petrified bandit fleeing from the blindfolded blade wielding maniac and Stern mouth a gape eyes widened in shock staring at the body, then to you pointing declaring "Oooh Look what you did, how could you! Oooh I'm telling Im telling!" Next thing you know he's off faster than, well faster than if he had two road runners, one strapped on to each foot!

 Have you ever played with companions? I assume so...lol.

They get in the way when you're trying to do something, like save someone instead of killing them in the middle of a melee of friendlies and enemies. I send a fireball at a scamp and he runs in front of me and gets hit by it, then blames me. It's not only Stern. All companions I've ever tried do the same thing. If I were to use a companion other than critters all I want is someone to watch my back and not interfere in what I do. I'm not interested in their personal quests or romancing them so the more complex companions are not to my taste.

Usually I don't use any companions at all except my own creatures, so I'm really making things I find annoying even worse for myself. I'm anti-social in my game. :)

Yes, true, but I've been using it for ages when I'm in Elsweryr so it may not be that at all. I'm grasping at straws really. I don't really know what the problem is, but as I'm leaning back towards the fog issue as I have noticed other slight graphic anomalies in fog. If it turned out to be the fog causing some kind of breakdown I have a mod I can use to change the weather at will, so I'll try that as well.

In the end I consider being able to play for over an hour or so with no problems or stutters an achievement for Oblivion so who knows? :)

Good point companion AI does tend to lean towards the homicidal/suicidal side of things...maybe they all just have split personalities or alter ego's :)

I rarely ever in any game take companion's along (except where it's absolutely necessary or the game kinda requires it ie Mass Effect's ect) as I like to go it alone. I prefer not to have to baby-sit poor AI so I can focus on doing what I want. And when I do feel like dragging someone along there usually slapped in a neon outfit with bulls-eyes, bells and whistles plastered all over it...ladies and gentlemen introducing 'The Distraction'. Bad guys look over there I go by over here :D

The last time I actually stuck with a companion was 'Baby Deathclaw Commander' (think that's what it was called) for New Vegas. Could not resist having my own baby deathclaw! So cute!

Hmm it can't be releated to that mod or weapon then, so educated guessing time say's weather may very well be the culprit. If you can alter the weather on the fly then problems averted, and besides half an hour let alone an hour of stability is a accomplishment to me so by my way of playing, you are doing a-ok :)

It could just be gremlins in the machine. :-o I played for a couple of hours tonight and had no problems at all. Oblivion is a fickle creature and when mods are added it sometimes just falls over. Not surprising with the number of mods I have active, but not as intense as some people's setups.

Personally, I like the New Vegas companion system a LOT. Simple, to the point and the AI is actually pretty good. I wish they would fix Boone and his weapon swapping though, but he's still my main choice anyway along with ED-E and later Rex.

At least companions are better in Oblivion than in Morrowind. I think that's what put me off them altogether with getting stuck on anything and everything, bad pathing in caves and getting lost all the time. But then again they were the precursors to what we have now which is pretty good really.

Baby sitting them is the main part that annoys me, second only to having to use menus to communicate with them. Checking if they are still following and not stuck somewhere, or dead if they aren't essential, which is a necessity when using overhaul mods. I know I'm having a whinge about something many people love and use for role playing, but companions in a game that stand around like statues with no personality do nothing for me. The only one I tolerate besides my own companions is Stern, and at the moment he's on R&R repairing his armour as it's broken and he's nekkid except for his helm and shield...lol.

There are a few very good and complex companions with custom voices and their own stories and quests, but I don't role play to that extent.

Well, I guess it is time for me to leave my feedback. I still haven't played WAC so you might be thinking why the heck am I writing but i did go through all the models and textures and even used some on my first mod and plan on using more on a few others I'm working on; all with due permission, of course.

Suffice to say, I was amazed. Everything that isn't armor is well done. Some aren't quite my cup of tea but that's just in terms of personal tastes and what you like or not in a creature, static, etc. not in the model or texture per se. I'll have to admit my jaw literally dropped when I saw the armors because they have one thing you can't say from most armor mods: these ones fit like a silk glove in Oblivion and never ever feel out of place. Possibly because they have bits from the vanilla armors (and I'm mainly talking about the Bandit, Chainmail and Iron armors since the others just have the belts attached, for now).

But there's more; what really got me to come here were the Realswords mods and the updates that come with WAC are amazing. I really like all the love you put into them (and all the love the real ones took to make). The Dunmer ones are my favourite so far (I'm a sucker for anything with katanas and sabres :P).

All in all, a great mod so far. I haven't checked anything in-game but I will once I get a proper install of Oblivion, one that isn't cluttered by all the WIP mods. I'm looking forward for any future updates, especially when it comes to the armors. This will certanly be the first big overhaul I'll play.
